Aimee + Jeremy | A Scenic Elopement at Acadia National Park | Bar Harbor, Maine

Once I got through all the traffic, passed all the slow people, and made it through what seemed like an endless amount of construction zones… I made finally it to Acadia. I had never heard of Acadia up until Aimee’s inquiry with me. When she told me she that she and Jeremy would be eloping in Acadia, I didn’t think much of it. Then… I mapped it on my phone and saw it was 4.5 hours away. My immediate thoughts were “OH HECK YES! ROAD TRIP!”

From the the very first conversation with Aimee, I knew they were exactly the kind of couple I wanted in my life. She was so sweet, detailed, and I just always appreciated our email exchanges. I couldn’t pin point why exactly, but I just got warm feelings thinking about how intimate and relaxed their day was going to be. I don’t do elopements often, but I have to say it’s a great change of pace. Of course I love weddings of all sizes, but sometimes in the midst of a busy wedding season, it’s nice to just slow down and not be rushed by any hectic timelines.

Checking in with Jeremy and Aimee at the hotel in Bar Harbor, I knew that this day would be a breeze. Hot… but a breeze. They hung out together for most of the day, but when it came time to pull that dress on, he slipped out and waited for their first look.

Seeing Aimee’s face after I hung her dress up for photos was a sight to see. Her grin was so big, and you could just see the “holy heck, I’m a bride!” settling in over her. Her dress was simply perfect. Various layers of tulle (Jeremy if you’re reading this, it’s not tool ;)) in a cream color, with thick sheer straps. The dress was made for her. And I am SO glad she chose to buy a wedding gown for her elopement!! I feel not many people do, but it made her day so much extra special that she wore one and it made my heart glow!

The ceremony was quick and effortless, and in no time at all they said “I do” in front of their close family on the sand at the shoreline. It was perfect!

The real magic began when we ventured to the two most important spots for Aimee; Cadillac Mountain and Jordan Pond. The views at these two locations were to die for!!! It’s not every wedding I get to have backdrops full of oceans, breathtaking mountains AND deep woods. Acadia will probably remain hands down one of my most favorite spots I’ve done a wedding to date… you just can’t beat the natural beauty and the calmness that surrounds you when you are on that mountaintop.

They were so incredibly easy to work with. They laughed, smiled, giggled, kissed…. they did all the things that makes me go “yaaaaasssss!!!” I wish I could have had a little more time with them, because the day went by incredibly fast. They let me ride with them around the Acadia loop to each location, which I thoroughly enjoyed because I got to learn some extra things about them I wouldn’t have known otherwise. Plus, we didn’t have to worry about parking!!

Aimee and Jeremy, I hope you had the best day ever and I hope it was everything you ever dreamed it would be. On the day you said “I Do” was exactly 7 years and 7 months from the day you first became a couple. 7 years and 7 months of joy, love, trials, good times, I’m sure hard times, and everything in between. I only hope the next 7 years and 7 months are just as much joy filled. I know for me, I enjoyed every moment of my time spent with you, and I truly look forward to serving you again in the future! Good luck on this new season of life!
